"I am eavesdropping on four men somewhere in Bengaluru. They are talking about plans for a new dating app. They are sure that their new features will solve urban India’s dating problems. But they don’t get it. Dating apps aren’t broken. It is the people. It is us. We are broken," tweeted marketer Akash Bhat on Sunday. The tweet has elicited a variety of responses from Netizens, who are pondering over the issue of the problems confronted by men and women on dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble.

By 'broken', Bhat means to say that we are demoralized, fragmented, crushed, overwhelmed and stuff like that. Are Indians on dating apps really broken?

Says Celeste, "We want the dream but don't want to work towards it. We want perfection but don't understand that people are perfect in their imperfections. We want others to love us when we don't love ourselves to begin with. We are indeed broken."

The Hypocritique says that dating is seen as a plaything. "If you are not in a relationship with an agenda, you are not in a relationship. You are in a transaction. The moment you think there's ALWAYS gonna be an outdoor, you will be tempted to glance outside sooner or later," the Twitter user analyzes.

Shubh says that there are only a few women who are active on dating apps. And the best men with both generational and genetic wealth get to date multiple women, while most men (the bottom 98%) are left high and dry. "Women were always the scarce component for these dating apps and thus it makes them the pickers. They have a plethora of matches and thus have the options of picking the best," Shubh writes.

Many Twitter users said that they are put off by women who dishonestly use words like 'Sapiosexual' when they are actually looking for rich men who can buy them gifts or take them to upscale restaurants over the weekend. A male Netizen said that he used to childishly believe that women on apps like Tinder look for sex. "I slowly realized that sex is the last thing on the minds of Indian women," he added.

On the other hand, female Netizens said that men turn out to be creeps and despos.
