It's now official that yesteryear actress Divya Vaani will be seen as Keerthy Suresh's mother in 'Mahanati', the Savitri biopic.

"I thank the makers for the opportunity. It's a pleasure to work in the direction of Nag Ashwin and under Ashwini Dutt garu's banner Vyjayanthi Movies," she says.

"I have always felt blessed to have been introduced as a lead actress through 'Pelli Pusthakam' in Bapu garu's direction. Previously, I had done small roles in two films. 'Sardar Krishnama Naidu' and 'Muthyamantha Muddu' were the films. About 21 heroines were considered for 'Pelli Pushtakam'. I was the one to be selected. Following that film, I did about 50 films as a lead actress across languages," she says.

Seen these days on television, Divya Vaani recently shifted to Hyderabad from Chennai. "I had to shift for my daughter's studies. I am doing 'Naa Peru Meenakshi', and 'Pavitra Bandhan' on the small screen," she says.
