Dulquer and Prithvirajs VIRAL car racing video lands them in trouble!

On Thursday, the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) declared a probe after a video of actors Prithviraj and Dulquer Salmaan's sports cars involving in a race along the Kottayam-Kochi road went viral on social media. The video was taped by two youngsters who followed the actors on their bike. Well, the exact date of the ‘race’ is not known.

The Motor Vehicle department said that a probe had been ordered to find out whether the actors were involved in rash driving. The cars involved in the incident were Porsche and Lamborghini models. While the stars are yet to respond to the video, police officials say they do not at the moment have any evidence indicating that the cars were indeed overspeeding.

“We’ve launched a probe to find whether the actors were involved in rash driving. An instruction has been given to the MVD’s Automated Enforcement Wing (AEW) to verify the speed-detecting cameras installed along the Kottayam-Kochi route. We can’t jump into a conclusion to claim that the actors have violated the road-safety rules. If the cameras can find the violations, notice will be served on the RC (registration certificate) owner,” said MVD joint transport commissioner Rajeev Puthalath.

After the person behind the wheels are identified, and if found guilty, they will be booked under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The Police officials said that the two men on bike trying to record the video were definitely overspeeding trying to catch up with the cars. The two men on the bike have also not been identified. Since most of the cameras are dysfunctional, it’ll be difficult to trace the speed violation, said the officer.

If found guilty, they will be liable to pay a fine of Rs 1500 for the first offence or face jail time for six months, and Rs 3,000 for repeat offences.
