Cool, classy and massy - DSP style
IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, April 17, 2012 • తెలుగు] Comments

Gabbar Singh packs a bundle of musical notes for all sections of the audience.  Complete with mass and class appeal, it is DSP at his one of career's best.    Why, nobody knew how to score for Pawan Kalyan in recent years better than DSP.  Though it falls below the standard of Jalsa, it stands good chances of becoming 2012's top hit.

Chandrabose, Sahithi, Bhaskarabhatla, Rama Jogayya Sastry and DSP himself lend out cool lines.

Dekho Dekho Gabbar Singh    Listen here

Artists: Baba Sehgal, Naveen Madhav
Lyricist: Rama Jhogaya Sastry

The song may remind you of the Jalsa title track, thanks to the instrumentation styling and of course, Baba Sehgal's vocals that have a familiar ring.  The comparison ends there.  Dekho Dekho is complete with rhyming words and sprinkled with the encomiums typical of an introduction song.  DSP's creative style lends the midas touch.  Naveen Madhav's vocals lend it a deal of freshness.

Akasam Ammayaithe   Listen here

Artists: Shankar Mahadevan, Gopika Poornima
Lyricist: Chandrabose

Given DSP's credentials, this song is a bit of a disappointment because while the song begins with a tune from Chand Sifarish from Fanaa, he seems to mix some popular influences in the later part.  Nonetheless, Akasam Ammayaithe is one of the most breeziest romantic songs in recent times.  Chandrabose's lyrics come with a poetic quality, while Shankar Mahadevan's vocals make the song look mature like wine.

Mandu Baabulam   Listen here

Artist: Kota Srinivasa Rao
Lyricist: Sahithi

Kota Srinivasa Rao could not have asked for a better song.  Despite the fact that the musical composition is not very innovative, Kota's vocals do justice to the irreverent flavour of the song.  Sahithi's lyrics are simple yet striking.

Pillaa   Listen here

Artists: Vaddepalli Srinivas, Pawan Kalyan
Lyricist: Devi Sri Prasad

The best part of the song is DSP's lyrics, which just work with people of all age groups.  The lyrics are full with analogies that describe the afflictions of a youth swayed by that girl with 'Nippu lanti navvu'.  VAddepalli Srinivas' voice has a folksy chord.  Talking of music, it is quite hummable.

Dil Se   Listen here

Artists: Karthik, Shweta Mohan
Lyricist: Bhaskarabhatla Ravikumar

This song stands out for its class appeal.  Shweta Mohan's voice is the best part, followed by instrumentation and Karthik's vocals.  Bhaskarabhatla's lyrics are noteworthy.

Kevvu Keva   Listen here

Artists: Mamta Sharma, Kushi Murali
Lyricist: Sahithi

The repetition of Kevuu keka.. is a masterstroke, plain yet naughty at once.  Mamta Sharma's voice is refreshing, adding a flavour of its own to this otherwise boisterous song.  DSP keeps the acoustics at the right level, like a seasoned engineer.  Listen this song for Sahithi's feisty lyrics and DSP's massy tune.
