If Sardar Patel's 'Statue of Unity' in Gujarat was made with a budget of Rs 3,000 Cr, the Maharashtra government is building a gigantic Shivaji statue. Its cost is estimated to be Rs 3,600 Cr.

Now, another massive statue is in pipeline. This time, it's the Congress-JDU government in Karnataka that has huge plans to erect a 125 feet statute of Mother Cauvery. It's meant to emotionally appeal to the farmers and other sections of the Kannada society.

"The statue will be built on the Krishna Raja Sagar reservoir in Mandya district in 400 acres. The budget is Rs. 1200 Cr. It will have a museum complex, two glass towers measuring 360 feet providing a bird's eye view of KRS reservoir, an indoor stadium and a replica of historical monuments to boost tourism in the region," a Minister has been quoted as saying.

What about land acquisition? No worries, because it will be built on the government-owned land, on 400 acres!
