Death by Technology, Phone Explosion Kills 12-Year-Old

In the Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh, Lakhan, a 12-year-old boy lost his life when a cell phone exploded while charging. The boy took out the Chinese mobile phone’s battery in order to charge it. When he plugged it in, it exploded leading to severe injuries on the boy’s face and chest. The boy was found unconscious by his uncle who came immediately on hearing the noise. Station House Officer CB Singh said: “His uncle rushed inside the house when he heard the explosion, he took him to the hospital where he died.”


Another relative said: “We heard some sound. Someone said it was a blast. We came running inside the house and saw the child lying on the floor; there were pieces of the charger, too." Even the switchboard was found to be in pieces. The phone is said to have exploded due to having been overheated. The police have filed a case and are investigating the facts. Phone explosions due to excessive heat are becoming increasingly common. It is extremely crucial to be as precautious as possible with the devices.
