Run of the mill album

The much awaited music of Pokiri movie is out and upon quick listening to the songs, they seem to be peppy and composed stylishly. However, upon careful hearing of each song, one will admit that it's below the expectations. Manisharma concentrated too much on peppiness, style and modern instruments and not necessarily on melody. There is something to cheer for Superstar fans as Manisharma uses the tune of "Galagala paarutunna" song from Gowri movie and manages to modernize it too. Most of the album has run of the mill numbers and lacks freshness.

Devuda 3.5*  Singers: Naveen Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

This is a solo song that's peppy and suits Mahesh's style appropriately. The phrase "Ah Devo devo devo devo devo devuda" is very catchy and sung well. The lyrics suggest that this could be the song where the hero follows the heroine while singing it. The usage of instruments, their synchronization and chorus in interludes is average and could be better especially in maintaining the flow. Naveen sings this very well and Bhaskarabhatla's lyrics are good. This song will appeal big time to the Youth and Mahesh's presence on the screen is only going to compound positively to it. A very good start to the album.

Dole Dole 2.5*  Singers: Ranjith, Suchitra Lyrics: Vishwa

This is a duet which is intended to be a bit sensuous and usage of Violin in the interludes enhances the feel of the song. The lyrics have a good mix of Hindi and Telugu words as the title suggests, but is easy to follow. Suchitra and Ranjith sing this song very well and Suchitra's voice particularly suits this song and Ranjith supports her amply. One can expect good picturization of the song along the backdrop of beautiful sets.

GalaGala Paarutunna Godaarilaa 3.5*  Singers: Nihaal Lyrics: Kadikonda

This is a remix song of "Galagala paarutunna Godaarilaa" from Superstar Krishna's Gowri. The lyrics have been changed from the original, modern instruments have been used but the tune is similar and is very pleasant. The song is melodious and Nihaal's voice suits the song superbly. There's unnecessary usage of chorus singing in English in the interludes that's an unnecessary mole on the otherwise clean and hum able song. Good job Manisharma.

Ippatakinka Naa Vayasu 3.5*  Singers: Murilidhar, Suchitra Lyrics: Bhaskarbhatla

This song could be the "Item" number that's so common in every movie now a days, which has a "heard before" feel, especially if one is exposed to the Hindi remixes. However, Suchitra sings it extremely well and this will easily be the most popular song. The producer may fancy picturizing this song with sex appeal to attract the masses, the lyrics and tune suit that feel perfectly.

Jagadame 2.5*  Singers: Kunaal Gaanjawala Lyrics: Kadikonda

This is the hero introduction song that's tuned to fast beats, heavy chorus with a techno feel. Kunaal sings it with high energy and maintains the tempo even when singing at a high pitch. However, the song lacks appeal and does not stick to any pattern or tune, so the end product is a mix of many things, including some phrases of devotion for Lord Ganesha, which may be good to watch on screen, but not for offline listening. It's only up to Mahesh to light the screen on fire with his expressions and dancing abilities, which may make this song popular.

Chododdu Antunna 2*  Singers: Mahalakshmi, Karthik Lyrics: Bhaskarabhatla

This is a run of the mill duet which is fast paced with good beats, but again has a "heard before" feel. The song just does not stick to
