One could say the year 2017 has been a good one for Tamil cinema with many fulfilling entertainers and women-centric films making it to the list. As the year comes down to an end, fan expectations are on a perpetual rise for films in 2018.

Naragasooran

Movie buffs were in a rush of excitement when this brilliant director announced his next project 'Naragasooran' with Arvind Swami in the lead role. Prabhas became a household name among Tamil audiences after his charismatic performances in Rajamouli's magnum opus 'Bahubali'. The actor is all set to once again hold fans captive with his next outing which will be a trilingual simultaneously shot in three different languages namely Tamil, Telugu and Hindi as well. As the actor has managed to gather a huge following in TN as well, 'Saaho' directed by Sujeeth has made into the list of 2018's most expected movies.
Sivakarthikeyan-Samantha-Ponram' movie (yet to be titled)
After 'Velaikkaran' which will be releasing this December, Sivakarthikeyan has started shooting for his next movie directed by Ponram who has made us giggle uncontrollably with his laugh riot 'Varuthapadaatha Vaalibar Sangam'. This yet-to-be titled movie will also have comedian Soori and music composer Imman back in team giving the film an added edge to make the list of 2018's most anticipated movies.
Junga
Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi with his 'boy next door' looks and brilliant performances have earned the love and affection of movie buffs and fans. The actor is once again set to amaze with his titular role in 'Junga' directed by Gokul of 'Rowthiram' fame. The movie also has Sayyesha Saigal, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Yogi Babu in its ensemble cast which only makes it into our 'must watch' list already.
Irumbu Thirai
'Irumbu Thirai' directed by P.S.Mithran has already piqued the curiosity of fans with its stills and movie posters. The film's lead actor Vishal also seems to be on a roll with his successful outings in detective thriller 'Thupparivalan' and Malayalam movie 'Villain'. Fans are awaiting the film eagerly Action King Arjun also stars in this movie as a lead actor along with Samantha.

'Sketch' directed by Vijay Chander features Vikram in the lead role with Tamannaah and Sri Priyanka essaying the female leads. Produced by Moving Frames Production company, 'Sketch' is a much anticipated movie by Chiyaan fans and general audience equally. 'Sketch' is set to start entertaining audiences from January 12.

Bala's films have always proven to be real, raw with disturbingly hard-hitting content. 'Naachiyaar' has already piqued the curiosity of fans with its intense teaser that shook the internet by storm. In addition to GV Prakash's local makeover for the film, Jyothika's bold and no-nonsense cop role have made this a much anticipated movies for 2018. Interestingly, Bala will also be wielding the megaphone for the Tamil remake of 'Arjun Reddy' which is titled as 'Varma' featuring Vikram's son Dhruv in the lead role. So it is a double treat for Bala fans.

Sundar.C is all set to embark on a breathtaking project and his magnum opus 'Saghamitra'. Calculated at a whopping budget of 150 crores, the film has attracted wide attention from cinema lovers and the general public. The first straight Tamil period drama to be produced with such extravaganza, 'Sanghamitra' is heavily anticipated. The film features Disha Patani, Jayam Ravi and Arya in the lead roles.

'Thaana Serndha Koottam' directed by Vignesh Shivan featuring Suriya in the lead role is a much anticipated movie by fans all over the world. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in this movie. The project which is being bankrolled by Dhanush under his production banner Wunderbar films also has Huma Quereshi, Nana Patekar, Anjali Patil and Samuthirakani in other important roles as well. The film is set for a release in June. Apart from this the makeover of Thalaivar is also drastically different from 'Kabali' and Rajini fans are in for a sweet delight as two Superstar movies will be releasing in 2018.
