Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi will be playing a vagabond in his much-awaited release "Andarivadu".

"I play both father and son with distinct identities," said the star at the film's launch. "The film revolves around a vagabond father and his idealistic son," added the actor who is playing a double role after a considerable gap.

"I watched 'Venky' and liked director Srinu Vytla's style of filmmaking," says Chiranjeevi, justifying his decision to work with the young director who has not made any star-centred movie.

Chiranjeevi had played a crusader against corruption ("Tagore") and a fake doctor ("Shankar Dada M.B.B.S.") in his previous films.

Hindi actress Tabu makes a comeback to Telugu cinema, to be paired opposite the older Chiranjeevi, while pretty Rakshita and Rimi Sen play the love interests of the younger one.

Vytla of "Anandam" and "Venky" fame was on cloud nine after he was summoned by producer Allu Arvind of Geetha Arts to direct the film.

"It was like a dream come true for me and I will give my best shot," said the director, who has been asked to deliver a "breezy entertainer" instead of an action film.

After "Shankar Dada...", Devisri Prasad is again composing the music for Chiranjeevi. He is bound to rely more on orchestration and racy numbers to cater to the star's huge following.

Producer Arvind, who made hits like "Rowdy Alludu", promised yet another "wholesome entertainer" from his banner.

Justifying the title, he said: "With umpteen social activities, Chiranjeevi has moved closer to the common man and so 'Andarivadu' (man for all people) is apt."

Arvind intends to release the audio by the end of May and the film on June 1.
