Narayan Das Narang's demise leaves Tollywood bereaved

Veteran film financier and exhibitor Narayan Das Narang is no more. Considered a legend in the world of film financing, he began his career in the late 1970s. He went on to finance the films featuring even the likes of NTR and ANR. Over the decades, Narayan Das rose from strength to strength, financing the films of almost all superstars.

Aged 76, the departed soul was suffering from age-related health issues. The Telugu film industry is deeply saddened by his demise. Narang was the President of the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Star Hospitals in Hyderabad.

As the promoter of the Sri Venkateswara Cinemas, he has produced "Love Story' and 'Lakshya', among others. The banner is currently bankrolling Nagarjuna's 'The Ghost', and a film starring Dhanush in the lead. Narang's son Suniel Narang is a well-known exhibitor. He and D Suresh Babu jointly run Asian Cinemas, one of the largest theatre chains in the country.

In his condolence message, actor Mahesh Babu described Narang as a prolific figure in our film industry. "His absence will be deeply felt. A privilege to have known and worked with him. His vision and passion for cinema is an inspiration for many of us. Strength and condolences to his family and loved ones," he wrote. The AMB mall is jointly owned by the Narang family and Mahesh.

Megastar Chiranjeevi paid a rich tribute to Narang, saying that he was a consummate player in the exhibition sector. "He was an honest man who always stood by his word. He was known for discipline. His experience was vast. He was a heavyweight in the field of cinema," the 'Acharya' actor wrote.
