On April 10, Rahul Gandhi made a startling statement in Amethi. He said that the entire country is saying only one thing: 'Chowkidar chor hai'. This means that the gatekeeper (that is, Narendra Modi) is a thief. "Today, the Supreme Court too has talked about justice," the Congress chief said, indicating that the apex court feels that the Prime Minister is guilty of corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal.

Soon after RaGa made the controversial remarks, the BJP sued him for contempt.

On Monday (today), the SC has asked the Congress President to explain why he attributed his own comments to the court. It's a contempt of court to attribute false or misleading statements to the court.

The SC suggested that it never made any observation on the Prime Minister.
