West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has on Wednesday said that she will not attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi (to be held tomorrow evening). Reason? She is ostensibly hurt by the claims of the BJP that more than 54 saffron activists have been killed by the "goons" of TMC in the State.

"It was my plan to attend oath-taking ceremony. However, I am seeing media reports that the BJP is claiming 54 people have been killed in political violence in Bengal. This is untrue. I am compelled not to attend the ceremony," the CM today said.

She added that the 54 activists may have been killed in personal clashes with enemies, etc.

On the other hand, the BJP is making arrangements to host the kin of the killed activists.
