In its manifesto, the BJP recently promised that all households in India will have access to piped water by 2024. This is one of the key promises made by the Modi sena.

Speaking at an election rally in Tamil Nadu's Ramanathapuram, the Prime Minister on Saturday said that his government, if voted to power, will have a separate ministry for water conservation or 'Jal Shakti'. "When the Modi government will once again assume office, there will be a separate ministry for 'Jal Shakti'. This ministry will cater to many aspects relating to water. The focus will be given on water conservation," he said.

Titled Jal Jeevan Mission, its mission is 'Nal Se Jal'.

A separate ministry looking after water conservation and provision won't ensure water supply by itself. However, if Modi takes focused steps involving States and District Administration, it's possible to achieve the goal.
