KCR claims Telangana’s revenue growth rate is the best in the world!

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, who has just triumphantly led the ruling Telangana Rashtriya Samithi (TRS) to more than two-thirds majority in the State Assembly in the just-concluded Assembly polls, has claimed yesterday that the State’s revenue growth is the highest in the world.

Speaking to reporters a day after a historical victory, Rao told reporters that Telangana had managed to achieve nearly 30% growth rate in generating its own tax revenue during the ongoing financial year (till November) 2018-19.  “I can assure that no other State in the country or any other country in the world has achieved this,” Rao asserted with a new-found condidence. Revealing the data, Rao said that the collections till November amounted to Rs.44,183 crore whereas it was Rs. 33,995 crore during the corresponding period last year.  Observers have constantly pointed out in the past that Telangana has been consistent in gaining an average revenue growth rate of 17.17% during the last 4 financial years.  Rao’s claim, thus, is only a culmination of a job which was well begun four years ago.

Rao vowed the record-breaking growth to royalty from Singareni Coal Company, neat financial management/discipline, rigorous tax collection and ridding of corruption.
